Our Historical Cycle Trip

On Wednesday, October 1st 2014 the fifth class pupils, Mrs Kelleher, Ms Kelly, and parents Geraldine Bonner and Eileen Murphy of Killeeneen N.S. cycled around Clarenbridge, Craughwell and Athenry parishes. We first went Geo-cashing around the parish and we found one Geo-cash, beside the monument near the Lynch's house in Lavally, in very bad condition with a loom band inside.
We then cycled to Lisduff and left our bikes in Lisduff Turlough and walked to the site of a hedge school called Scoil Cois ClaĆ' and a corner where Anthony Raftery use to sit, play his fiddle and recite poetry.
Also in Lisduff Turlough we visited an old Mass Rock, Ms Kelly explained to us it's importance during Penal Times in Ireland.

When we returned to school we were all extremely tired but it was well worth it as we had a wonderful day!
