McCarthy and O'Duffy visit Killeeneen
We are very lucky that two of our teachers won senior All Ireland medals this year. Ms. Cooney was No. 4 on the Galway camógie team that defeated Kilkenny and Mr. Dillon wore No. 4 for the Clare hurlers who defeated Cork in their final.
Ms. Cooney and Mr. Dillon brought the O'Duffy and McCarthy Cups into school last week. There was great excitement!! It is very rare to have both cups together and we enjoyed having our photos taken with the special visitors. Well done Ms. Cooney and Mr. Dillon!
Amhrán na gCupán
Táimid ag foghlaim "Amhrán na gCupán" don Cheolchoirm an Nollaig.
Anseo, táimid ag cleachtadh an 'Rince Lámha'.
Science
So far in this term, we have conducted experiments to show the effect of friction and inertia. We have also looked at magnetism. We conducted experiments to test the strength of a magnet, show the magnetic field of a magnet and magnestised steel nails.

European Explorers
In History, we studied the lives of various European explorers, who discovered and conquered new lands: Christopher Columbus, Amerigo Vespucci, Marco Polo, James Cook, Francisco Pizarro, Hernan Cortez, Abel Tasman, Roald Amundsen and Irishman Ernest Shackleton.
After we had presented our projects to the class, we dramatised the exciting adventures of some of the explorers.

Maths Week 2013
For Maths Week, we participated in an online Target Board competition.
A set of 9 numbers was given and using any of these numbers (only once in each expression) and the four operators. We had to see out how many expressions we could find that makes up the target number.
The idea is to come up with as many expressions using the numbers on the board and the four operators (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
We also took part in a Maths Week Table Quiz with other children from 3rd, 4th and 6th class. It was great fun.
